The Shareen & Joe Show

Whoa there guys!

by Joe Augustin on Feb.11, 2009, under Morning Jam Blog

shareen n joe Whoa there guys!Hey there!

We really have to say a huge “Thank You” to all of you.

Your enthusiastic support has been nothing short of AMAZING!

But I do need you guys to help me out with something. I need you guys to cool it a little with the Safra Radio bashing. I recognise that many of you may be a little angry for what you perceive is something they did to you as listeners and also to us as presenters.

That is not the case. There are many good people that work at the station – who are caught in this crossfire. I had been so busy these past 2 days re-vamping my own website, that I forgot those we had left behind. From what I gather, some of our fans have not treated Elliot too kindly – either on Facebook, here or via the station’s SMS. Please – leave the jocks to do what they have to do. These are all friends of ours who are in some cases taking flak for something they are not responsible for.

Just so you know… we love Power 98. Both Shareen and I have spent so many of our good years there, it’s hard not to be attached to the place. And who knows? Maybe one day, when everything is not as it is today, we may be back. But I suspect that might be quite a long time from now.

As we’ve been saying, keep your eyes and ears opened for our next project.

Thanks for listening!

Joe Augustin

why did they do this to you again???? i was following you… :(

  • Celia

Kinda sad to hear about the news and i was hoping both of you were just being sent for a long deserved vacation and will be back on air soon on Power 98…guess that is not the case.

Well i guess things happened for a reason (though to the listeners the reason is LAME) but who knows it could be the reason for u to embark on something that u really wanna do or into the next phase of your life. ;)

Whatever it is…u know we’ll always be there to support the both of you. All the best Joe and Shareen…hoping to hear you guys on air soon!

  • Prue

    where is Kai Life ?

  • Aristotle

Kinda of sad to know such unfortunate incident had happend to you again. Joe, you do seem ‘sway’ over past radio stations. Nevermind, just to let you know, you always have a cult of listeners just like apple cult over the rest of PC users. You are just too good and unique for them. Hope to hear you soon

  • colin of king kong jane

Hey Joe, sorry to hear about the news. Hope things get sorted out the way you want them to asap. Fyi, weekday mornings seriously aren’t quite the same without you and Shareen on air. Take care man.

  • alia

hi guys.. i’ve been crazily switching between listening to any announcements from elliot to channel surfing to get any updates on u guys, then i googled and came to this website. So i wasnt the only one left in the dark! this truly sucks, i have started reading books on the bus ride in the morning as there’s nothing interesting to listen to. I dont get why they pulled you off air again. Would it help if we signed a petition to get you guys back on air? The quality of the other shows really leave a lot to be desired! Anyhoots, hope you guys come back soon to entertain us. :(

  • parangtoh

this is sad… I’ve already boycotted 95.0 when Mr 2-timer came onboard, and then quitted 91.3 when they sack Joe and now this…. nothing against power 98, but I’m not sure where the management is going by letting the best DJ go.

Wish you guys best of luck with whatever you set your heart upon and we’ll be there to support you!

Joe & Shareen, pls pls pls give us (ur loyal ardent REAL morning jam listeners) updates of when u 2 r coming back on air, at your EARLIEST possible yeah!

We all MISS u 2 very much! Like wat many have said, mornings aren’t the same anymore w/o u 2!

  • Ghostrider

You have done it again…well done Joe !!

At least you managed to last longer than that Brazilian Chelski manager.

Now back again…its your fault since Monday…the morning jam (on the h’way not the airwave) is unbearable. The jams seems to be longer…the trip to the office is more stressful….and ITS ALL YOUR FAULT !!

BTW…no offense Elliot…its not your fault to be thrown into the deep end of the pool…but I think Morning Jam without Joe and Shareen is just not the same…but keep it up Elliot…best way to tackle the problem is to face it.

    joe:

simple, ask the management to drop in here, and the other website (petrinaandjoe.com), and let them see what they’re gonna miss.

i share your sentiments. ppl like elliott shld be kept out of the crossfire. feel sorry for him as well. think he’s got a lot to shoulder for a while.

but positively put, it’s also a good time to see how far he can stretch his potential.

and joe, forgive me for saying this but, pls.. whatever’s your next project.. pls try and do it for the good of everyone, and in long term interest. don’t jeopardise your career (and our listening pleasure). i don’t know what transpired, but it isn’t worth it if your views and ideas are too risky and unorthodox. ppl (read: mgt) these days are just too trigger happy. there can be other avenues of outlet to air them.

meanwhile, i think those safra radio management should keep themselves busy with our (added) bashing, with one more charge slapped onto them for handling this even worse than 913′s fiasco. personally? no mercy for them.

    PRUE:

hi there, you can find kai life at holland village. it’s on level 2 if i rem correctly. above breadtalk etc. one small quaint corner unit.

    http://www.kailife.com.sg

  • HdBanger

    oh yeah,

joe, a suggestion. tho the show’s off, you can still post interesting stuff on this site rite? stuff that you guys have been puttin up all these while. it’s an indirect show. or maybe it can be incorporated into whatever you’re gonna do next.

i believe the core group of ppl will still hang around for a while. and it’d heal part of their withdrawal syndrome (and the side effects: bashing).

  • SGRadioisnowawasteland

Eh, Shareen. IMHO, you can take the time to gain some weight! (and do some heavy duty shopping, of course).

  • Shareen Wong

    Hey Prue,

Kai Life is at Holland Village Shopping Mall (upstairs from Breadtalk). Its a homeware/lifestyle store featuring soft furnishings, accessories & jewellery. Chic yet affordable. See must sell “ko-yeok” a bit! http://www.kailife.com.sg or see Kai Life page on facebook :)

  • marvin

hey Joe, we met (at your place) quite some years back when you did a VO for me. Anyway, that’s beside the point. I’ve been a great fan of yours through the years, from your class 95 days through to power98, 913, and back to power98 again. and mornings will never be the same again without you on radio – really! i’m now contented just to listen to my CDs, occassionally tuning into the news and traffic reports on the hour. radio will not be the same without joe agustine, and trust me, i’m not one to brown nose anyone. i hope to see you back on the scene again real soon, if not, i’ll be spending a lot more moolah on new CDs, which isnt’ such a good thing given these times.

  • pierce

    Hi Joe,

Listened to you since your days at Class 95. It pretty obvious who was the “pillar” of the show. Then something happened, you out of the game. Many rememeber You & Pertina – was magical. It easy to see the other stations belonged to another lower league all together. The “so-called” best station (Mediacorp) has nothing but one guy laughing annoyingly into the mic. Not to mention, running of material & resources, very often just reading from the newspaper articles or telling some lame sex jokes.
What I trying to say, is Joe, you are a class above most local DJ, and obviously some “boys” are not so happy when you are not in their team.

  • Ling

    Hi Joe,

Just wanna say we are tired of switching the station every morning….Both my hubby & me has been following you..Please take care and come back fast!!! Morning without you is boring…

  • LK

    Hi,
I heard abt the meeting on Fri and saddened to know u guys disappeared, no wonder the songs sounded funny on the Mon morning. I switched from 91.3 to power, now to…forget it, its not important. look forward to hear you again, you guys make the morning brighter…

  • Lim Mi Lan

I want to be the first to hear what you guys are up to plz…….

  • MT

Now i don’t have any station to listen to when I drive to work in the mornings!

  • Anne

I used to channel-surf on my way into work, scouting for good music. One day I chanced upon you guys, and that was the end of my channel-surfing! Good music to wake up to can be played by anyone; I have my trusty IPOD for that. However, good rapport is hard to achieve and keeping your audience’s attention is even harder. You guys definitely kept my attention – I enjoyed your musings and your anecdotes immensely. I am not a morning person, but you definitely brought a smile to my face. I hope Power realises the talent it is missing out on, and the audience share it has just lost itself.

  • Keith

This is ridiculous! Another firing again? I was getting used to listening you on Power 98 FM, and now it is gone. To be honest, Singapore Radio Stations need to wake up their mind if they want to survive within this economic crisis. I have totally shunned away from radio stations recently, because it is no longer as entertaining in the morning without Joe.

Not that I am unwilling to give others a chance, but that familiar voice is something that kept me joyous on my daily route to work.

Furthermore, the breech of contract… I don’t know what was said that constitute a breech of contract. Can someone please enlighten me?

  • Joe Augustin

    Keith,

Thanks for dropping by – and thanks for listening to our radio shows all this time. It’s really special to us.

I won’t be discussing anything to do with the decision to terminate our contract – and I would also like to please ask that no one speculate on the topic either.

For now, let’s move forward, and have some fun! Our podcast is coming next week! :)
